2021
The PhD student Maud Heredia, from Erasmus MC, presented her work about two studies: (a) “Circulating inflammatory protein and cellular profiles at time of diagnosis classify inflammatory bowel disease patients according to their underlying immune response and clinical disease course” and (b) “TIGIT expression differentiates regulatory from inflammatory non-classical Th1-like gut-homing effector CD4+ T cells in inflammatory bowel disease patients” on the following conferences:

- European Congress of Immunology 2021 and received the EFIS-BioLegend Bright Sparks Award of best presentation.
- United European Gastroenterology Week 2021, and received the Best Abstract Presentation Prize.

Danielle Barendregt, a PhD student from Erasmus MC, gave an oral presentation entitled: “Expression of the co-inhibitory receptor TIGIT on memory CD4+ T cells is induced by TCR ligation and retinoic acid co-stimulation and is elicited during microbial colonization of the intestine.” at the European Congress of Immunology in September 2021.
The PhD student Laura Ouboter, from LUMC, presented her abstract entitled: ‘Identification of a disease-associated network of intestinal immune cells in treatment-naïve inflammatory bowel disease’ at the European Conference of Immunology in September 2021.
The PhD student Julia van Heck, from Radboud UMC, presented her work in the following conferences:
- European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) 2021 (oral presentation).
- Annual meeting of the young investigators of the Dutch Association for Diabetes Research (jNVDO) 2021 (oral presentation).
The PhD student Arno Bourgonje, from UMC Groningen, presented his work about “The Effect of Phenotype and Genotype on the Plasma Proteome in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease” at the following conferences:

Prof. Dr. R. K. Weersma, from UMC Groningen, gave a presentation for the general lay public about microbiome and health, entitled “ Microbioom, de rol van darmbacteriën bij ziekte en gezondheid”.
Prof. Dr. Frits Koning participated in the podcast “Waarom heb ik coeliakie?”, created by the Dutch Celiac Association. Frits explains what triggers celiac disease, the functioning of the immune system and gives information on the currently research on celiac disease.

The PhD student Maud Heredia presented her work at the Annual meeting of the Dutch society (NVVI) for Immunology December 2020.
The Postdoc Lea Costes presented at the Annual meeting of the European Crohn’s and Colitis organization in February 2020.
Janneke Samsom held a lecture at the Translational Immunology meeting of the British Society of Immunology in September 2020, and in the Prevent Celiac disease meeting in January 2021.
The PhD student Mohammed Charrout, from TU Delft, presented a poster about the IBD pediatrics Olink analysis in the BioSB 2020 conference.
The PhD student Julia van Heck presented her work in a short oral presentation at the NVDO in 2020 (Annual Dutch Diabetes Research Meeting).
